UTAS Membership

Who can be a member? UTAS membership is open to anyone who is interested in Anthropology. All majors are welcome to join at any time during the year.

UTAS Why join? Membership gives you the opportunity to vote and run for office. You can provide your input on future meetings and help guide the direction of the Anthropological Society at UT. Membership fees are used to host out-of-town guest lecturers, provide refreshments at meetings, and fund social events. Above all, membership dues and participation ensure that UT's only student-run Anthropology club will continue to exist.

How do I enroll? Simply fill out the membership form and pay your dues. The form can be downloaded as a Word document from the following link: MembershipApp.pdf (375kb). Return your form to Gabby Yearwood in EPS 1.130 or bring it to one of our meetings along with your dues ($10 for one semester, $15 for two semesters).

Lambda Alpha Membership

Who can be a member? For active student membership, Undergraduates must be currently enrolled and have completed no less than twelve (12) semester hours or the equivalent in academic Anthropology. Undergraduates must have an average grade in these courses of no less than "B" or 3.0 and a cumulative grade point average of no less than 2.5.

Lambda Alpha Why join? Lambda Alpha hosts an annual national scholarship of $5000 to a deserving graduating senior major in anthropology and a $1000 annual Dean's List award to a deserving junior. A Graduate Research Grant designed to encourage overseas thesis research awards $2000 to $6000 each academic year. Since the editorial policy of the Lambda Alpha Journal provides for 50% of its space to be reserved for student publication, this offers a unique opportunity for students to see their own work in print on a national level.
