The Latin Placement Service in the Classics Department at the University of Texas at Austin posts Latin teaching positions in public and private schools all over Texas and in nearby states. We also notify Latin teachers on our list who may be seeking employment.

Latin Teacher (Vacancy Announcement)

A private, college-prep school in Texas is seeking a Latin teacher to commence work in August 2005. Teaching duties include Latin in the middle school.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the full life of the school by coaching athletic teams or supervising extracurricular activities.

Location: Dallas, Texas

Work Begins: August 2005

Requirements: Bachelor's degree with major or minor in Latin or Classics. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Strong academic record. Enthusiasm for middle-school students.

Additional Information: Situated in Aledo, a small town just west of Fort Worth, Texas, Aledo High School is a great school in a wonderful community, and the person who gets this job will probably, like me (Karen Villarreal), fall in love with it. We currently have three years of Latin, with AP as a third-year course, but in 2006-2007, AP Latin will be a fourth-year offering. Mr. Tim Griffiths also teaches Latin here. Our average enrollment in Latin classes is 200.
