I
present here recordings of all or part of four Plautine cantica, with
melodies I have improvised myself, but with rhythms following Plautus’
metrical patterns, singing long syllables at twice the length of short
syllables.
Cistellaria 203-228: A song dominated by one meter type.
Trinummus 223-243: A song that begins in one meter type, which breaks down as the song proceeds.
Cistellaria 671-694: A song made up of juxtaposed blocks of individual meters.
Pseudolus 1246-1280a: A song in which various meters are jumbled together.
