While I was still an embryo, my mother and father packed up their cares and woe and moved to Reading, PA, home of pretzels and some of the largest outlet malls you've ever seen. I used to work in the VF Factory Outlet complex after school. I don't suggest this kind of job unless you like telling people not to open the shower curtain containers.
I don't know this kid to the left, but he's on the Reading/Berks Visitor Center page. I was looking for a great picture of a pretzel that they used to have, but I couldn't find it. So you get to look at this kid and his pie. He's kinda cute as far as rugrats go, I guess. But don't be mistaken, not everyone in Berks County wears overalls and straw hats, just the cute ones who get their pictures on web pages.
Then Mom remarried, and we moved from the city to the 'burbs. I got to attend a very preppy public school, Wyomissing Area Jr/Sr High School where I was active in the music and theater groups.
All this activity helped me get accepted to Cornell University where I learned some lessons in avoiding hills, avoiding lines, and trying to appear more sober than I am. I liked living in Ithaca, NY, but I got a bit tired of the snow. (It snowed on me when I went camping in May of 1996.)
The building covered in snow is Risley Hall, home of Prudence Risley College for Creative and Performing Arts. My room was the one with the first dormer to the left of the Eschervator. Find the spike near the middle of the picture, and the first window popping out of the roof was mine.
To escape the snow, I moved to Austin, TX, the Live Music Capital of the World. Which basically means, you can't throw a stick downtown or near the college campus without hitting someone who's in a band somewhere. A few months ago I was in the audience for a taping of Austin City Limits. Performing that night were Ray Price, Hank Thompson, and Junior Brown.
Since moving to Texas, I've been working for ACITS (see the page for an explanation of the acronym) at The University of Texas at Austin. First I worked with the Microcomputer Technologies Group, which is now
The strangest thing about Texas (other than the guy who asked "outta ta-yun?" when I was buying some snacks) is the lack of basements. This has something to do with the bugs, which are definitely bigger in Texas.
A year and three days later, I started working with UT Austin's TeamWeb. With TeamWeb, I do everything from teach an introduction to CGI programming to creating graphics for web pages (like this TeamWeb logo). I have become a Jack of most Web trades, and master of very few.
