
These images were sent to me from South Africa. The rocks are apparently associated with the Bushveld complex. The rock shows the squarish blue quartz crystals and feldspar phenocrysts seen in Llanite. The feldspars are a different color, but are somewhat similar.

Before any tectonics types get excited and start using the similarity of rock types as an indication of a Proterozoic connection between Texas and South Africa, there is something you should know. The African rocks are probably associated with the Bushveld complex, which is considerably older than the Llanite intrusives.
More examples of blue quartz and pink feldspar rhyolites from Brazil. Not quite as Llanite-like, but still interesting.
I also recently (2005) got E-mailed some images of a rock from Argentina that look about halfway between those shown above and real Llanite. (thanks to Dr. Raúl Becchio for sending the images to me)
