Let me take a moment to say some serious things about taking the trip to the top of the real Enchanted Rock. In the summer, it is HOT out there. There is frequently a nice breeze at the top, but you've got to get to the top first. Take water with you. One liter will not be enough for four people [unless you are very small, extremely fit people]. During the summer, I usually take at least two liters just for me (three liters in August). If you are sensitive to the heat, try scheduling your climb for before noon. Wear sunscreen, wear a hat, wear sensible shoes. Or at least wear shoes. Be sensitive to the humidity, the more humid it gets the more trouble you are going to have keeping cool. Don't be a macho idiot.
Finding yourself in serious trouble is really easy. The last time I was out there, an apparently fit young woman was hauled away in an ambulance because she had heat exhaustion. On the same day, I ended up flat on my back making sweat angels after I came back down, and I took a bunch of water with me. You really want to avoid heat exhaustion, it is less fun than Pflugerville on a Tuesday night.
