Shown above is a deformed medium-grained granite, from the east side of Sandy Creek, just north of the trail crossing. This granite differs from most of the granite in the park; it's darker, definitely less pink, and has much smaller crystals. Note the deformed mafic enclave in the lower left of the picture. The granite shown here is probably older than the Enchanted Rock batholith and this granite was deformed during the intrusion of the ERB. Future plans involve going back and spending some time looking around this area to get a better idea what is going on with this granite.
