Enchanted Rock is actually located close to the margin of the Enchanted Rock batholith and this margin can be seen within the park boundaries. Go down Sandy Creek (north) from the eastern parking lot. Exposed in the creek and in a small tributary that flow into it are exposures of the contact zone between the granite and the metamorphic rocks that surround it.

The contact is not a sharp boundary, but a complex zone. Pieces of broken off metamorphic rock float in the granite and pegmatites are common. In the picture above a foliated metamorphic rock fragment (center, dark) is flanked by two relatively intact pieces of granite. These are surrounded by a disturbed foliated zone that I have not entirely figured out yet.
