A granite batholith, is a large granitic body made up of multiple intrusions of igneous rock. Enchanted Rock, the topographic feature, is located near the southeast margin of the Enchanted Rock batholith [and is marked with a star].
The white lines within the red granite body indicate the orientation of a flow foliation defined primarily by elongate potassium feldspar crystals. The black lines around the body are the traces of large folds in the surrounding rock.
Multiple intrusions? Yes, more than one type of granite makes up the Enchanted Rock Batholith.

| This granite makes up some of the center region of the batholith, but does not occur within the boundaries of ERSNA. | This granite is typical of what makes up the exposures in ERSNA, and occurs around the outside margins of the batholith. Yes, that's the same pencil, which says something about the color values of my images. |
