        Welcome to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Research Project 0-4169 website on Rural Truck Traffic in Texas. This two-year study is being conducted by the Center for Transportation Research of The University of Texas at Austin and Texas Tech University. 

The objective of this research project is to:
• analyze the volumes and characteristics of rural truck traffic,
• survey and interview rural stakeholders, major income/economic generators, and rural  carriers (both road and rail) to identify transportation concerns (particularly rural infrastructure needs),
• display available and gathered rural data on a GIS platform, and
• develop a multi-attribute criteria methodology to prioritize rural infrastructure needs.
