Warpaint's phobia is his feet. He kushes and tries to cover his feet with his body when it is time to trim toenails. In contrast, if he has a thorn in his foot, he readily cooperates to let us remove it. He had an eye injury that required treatment three times a day for a couple of weeks. I would clip his halter to the top of the fence to stabilize his head and have both hands free to treat his eye. After a few days, he would go put his chin on the fence (without being haltered) and hold it there voluntarily while I treated his eye. He can be very cooperative when he thinks it is a good idea! His fleece is mostly guard hair and not good for fashion wear. However, it makes wonderful rugs - strong and durable. If you want someone to enthusiastically set a fast pace on a hike, put Warpaint in the lead position. His pleasure at hiking is contagious.
