This is the computer room.
This room also contains the five house computers:
- PC Pentium III (450 MHz) with Windows 98
- PC Pentium II (400 MHz) with Windows 98
- PC Pentium II (350 MHz) with Windows 98
- PC Pentium (100 MHz) with Linux 2.2
- Macintosh G4 PowerPC (400 MHz) with Mac OS 9
All the machines are connected to each other via a Ethernet-based
local area network (LAN). An HP LaserJet
6MP laser printer is connected to the computers via the LAN.
Accessing the Internet is one of the mose popular
uses of the house computers. An Asymmetric Digital Subscriber
Line (ADSL) with download speeds up to 1500 kps (384 kbps minimum)
and upload speeds up to 384 kbps is connected to all the machines
via the 10BaseT (10000 kbps) network.
It is possible to reserve machines by signing up ahead of time.
Use of the computers is available at no extra charge to residents.
