A modern native American celebration in which people from all races, cultures, and backgrounds come together to celebrate and honor the native American culture. noon-- 1 pm: Gourd Dancing 1 pm-- 5 pm: Intertribal Dancing 5 pm-- 6 pm: Feed/Supper Break 6 pm-- 7 pm: Gourd Dancing 7 pm--11 pm: Intertribal Dancing Cecilia Casebeer will be leading a group to see some of the dancing in the evening. Sat., 24 Apr 36th Annual Eeyore's Birthday Party Pease Park, 11 am until dark From : This Austin tradition features drum circles, food, music, and revelry to honor Winnie the Pooh's buddy Eeyore. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to dress in costume. The event is sponsored by the YMCA of UT--Austin and the University Area Partners, and all proceeds from merchandise and food go to other non-profits in Austin. Live music from 12 noon to 6 pm by Lisa Tingle, Quatropaw, and Snipe Hunt. It's the closest experience to Woodstock that you will find in Austin. Free admission! Sat., 24 Apr Wildflower Days Photo Festival, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Research Center, 4801 LaCrosse Ave., Austin. From : "The Photo Festival focuses on our preferred method of collecting wildflowers---on film! This festival features a day-long photography workshop with Central Texas wildflower photographer Kerry Owen, wildflower photography lectures, docent-led tours of the gardens and grounds, and wildflower photo opportunities thoughout the gardens and natural areas." If you have never been to the Wildflower Research Center, it's really a beautiful place and well worth the visit. Admission: $2.50 with student ID. A National Necessity" featuring political satirist Mark Russell and a panel including Liz Carpenter, Ann Richards, Cactus Pryor, and Molly Ivins. Sponsored by the UT College of Liberal Arts.
