A short description: The cooperative founded in Rochdale, England in 1844 is widely recognized as the first cooperative that was successful over a long period of time. This article is a short account of the plight of the people of Rochdale and their efforts to give birth to a cooperative store. This article is actually the third in a series of six collectively titled "Co-op Roots: A Series of Short Essays on the Early Cooperative Movement." Meet and have dinner your fellow College Houses co-opers (No dinner will be served at Laurel House). You will also have a chance to talk with the College Houses Board of Directors and vote on the T-shirt design for next year. Note: Due to the resignation of the College Houses Education Committee Coordinator in early March, the College Houses Pool and Volleyball Tournaments were cancelled. Members who wish to play pool may use the tables at Pearl St. and 21st St. (subject to their house rules). Members who wish to play volleyball may borrow the Laurel House ball and use the court at Pearl St. (again subject to house rules).
