c. The adjective ëhopefulí is subcategorized for an S but not a PP (so ëRobert is hopeful that he can goí is OK).
d. The adjective ëfondí is subcategorized for a PP but not an S (so ëRobert is fond of fox terriersí is OK).
e. ëlaughí requires a PP, not an NP (so ëThe children laughed at the maní is OK)
