Jane Scoggins Bauld
Curriculum Vitae
- Jane majored in English, with continuing
education in Child Development at the University of Texas in Austin.
- Jane is retired from a thirty year teaching career for
the purpose of writing, and is dedicated to marketing her published books,
making professional visits to schools and libraries, providing writing seminars,
participating in book fairs, and traveling for book signings and promotional
tours.
- Jane has conducted book signings at the United Nations,
and in Washington D.C.
- Jane is a member of the Austin Writers' League, serving
as Editorial Consultant, Writers Helping Writers, Seminar Representative for
Lecture Tours by the Texas Commission for the Arts, and member of the Author's
Round Table.
- Jane is a national member of the Society of Children's
Book Writers and Illustrators, and was a charter member of the regional SCBWI,
where she previously served on the steering committee. The national SCBWI

- Jane conducts writing conferences for the University of
Texas at Austin and Arlington, Coldwater Press, Austin Writers' League, Writers'
Garret in Dallas, Christian Writers' Guild, and Society of Children's Book
Writers and Illustrators.
- Jane was guest speaker twice on NBC-TV, KIXL Radio, Fox
News, was twice interviewed on National Public Radio, invited to interview
on C-Span Book Notes, interviewed in the Governor's Mansion representing children's
authors at the Texas Book Festival, and was featured in Neil Sperry's Garden
Magazine.
- Jane was invited to serve on a Design Team nationwide board,
sponsored by the Texas Hospital Association, to develop a children's video
to help overcome fears of illness and hospitals.
- Her Rights for Children received the city seal by
the Mayor of Austin, were requested for use at the Dept of Human Resources
Child Protective Services, and for teacher training at the University of Texas
Child Development lab.
- She served as Children's Docent at the Austin Museum of
Art.
- Jane served on the Board of Directors of the Taniguchi
Foundation, Hyde Park Child Development Center, and is on the Board of Directors
for Any Baby Can, and Connections, Inc.
- Jane conducts Child Development Seminars for Sebastian
Associates, Austin Associate for the Education of Young Children, Texas AEYC,
International Play, Dept of Human Services, Southwest Texas State Uni., Texas
Baptist Gen. Convention at Baylor, and Howard Payne University, and Association
of Texas Professional Educators.
- Jane has taught young children for thirty years, serving
as Director, Head Teacher, Gifted Child Teacher, Curriculum Director, Resource
Director, Consultant, Seminar Participant, and Child Advocate. Jane was the
winner of the Sallie Beth Moore Award for outstanding teaching and dedication
to children.

Jane is married to Professor of Chemistry at the University
of Texas, Nathan L. Bauld. They have five children and five grandchildren. Her
hobbies are art history, tree and wildflower identification. Jane collects rocks
and sticks.
