Rochester's SLR for the format offered aperture-priority autoexposure, automatic film speed sensing (64/160 ASA), battery tester, and cable release and tripod sockets. Flash capability was by flashcubes, with a PC socket for flashguns; later in production an accessory shoe was added. Beginning in March of 1969 it was available in black enamel.

Beside the two standard lenses, you could also purchase a 28 mm, 35 mm, 85 mm, 135 mm, and 200 mm which were produced specifically for this model. The example here carries the f/2.8, 45 mm lens. The Instamatic Reflex also accepts all Retina S-series lenses, and was available "body-only" ($162 in chrome, $157 in black) for those who already owned these lenses. The Compur electronic shutter was one of the first in the world. As with the Instamatic 500, the quality of workmanship is first-rate.

I am currently trying to determine the production numbers of this camera. If you own one, please email me its serial number, found on the bottom edge of the film door. Please mention whether the number is preceded by "EK," whether it includes the accessory (flash) shoe, and whether the finish is chrome or black enamel. Thank you.
