Kodak instant cameras were the subject of a lengthy court battle between Kodak and Polaroid, who claimed that Kodak's instant film technology was an infringement of their patent. Kodak lost the case, and was forced to withdraw its instant cameras from the market. Kodak offered rebates to owners of these cameras if the cameras' nameplates were returned to Kodak, which is why one finds so many of them, like this example, on the used market without their nameplates.
