Candidates
Interested
students must submit an application and be interviewed by a panel
of HCMP program directors and healthcare professionals. The
applicants need to have completed several
requirements
that include course prerequisites in lower-division biology as
well as medical terminology. Students must have completed eighty
volunteer hours at a hospital or clinical setting with a minimum
of forty hours in a Seton Healthcare Network clinical facility.
After
turning in the application along
with two letters of recommendation, an official transcript, a
tentative schedule, and an essay, the students are evaluated.
The field is narrowed, and the remaining applicants are
interviewed. During the interview, the applicants are faced with
questions regarding their knowledge of the medical field as well
as medical ethics.
HCMP holds information
sessions during the middle of the spring and fall semesters
at The University of Texas at Austin. Applications are available
at the presentations and at the Health
Professions Office following the week of the sessions.
A downloadable copy of the application will be available starting
the week of information sessions. Dates and locations of the
sessions will be posted.
