The Austin Rowing Club Juniors program is dedicated to the teaching of the fundamentals of rowing to 9th-12th grade students. The program is open to ALL students in the Austin and surrounding areas.

Rowing is the ultimate in team sports. It teaches commitment and respect for others. Team work is essential to make a boat go. There are no super stars in rowing. It takes everyone on the team to make a boat successful.

The Austin Rowing Club Juniors program teaches self-discipline, motivation, confidence, perseverance, goal setting, time management, and the rewards of hard work. The skills learned in rowing will carry them through their lives in whatever they pursue. The program also stresses the importance of healthy living through physical fitness, nutrition, and healthy habits.

The team is split between girls and boys as well as novice and varsity. Novice rowers are just learning how to row. After a year of rowing, students move up to the varsity team. The team practices together four times a week. Our primary focus is on sculling but we also teach sweep rowing. We row and race singles, doubles, quads and eights.

The season is divided into the fall (September- December) and spring (January- May). The fall is a time to build fitness, team bonds, and work on rowing technique. The spring is our competitive season as we race in regional and national competitions.

We have a second Juniors program which meets once a week on Saturdays from 8AM- 10 AM. This program is designed for students who are interested in rowing but do not have the time or desire to participate in a competitive program. The program is open to 8th-12th grade students.
