Claus Elholm Andersen teaches and conducts research within the field of
Scandinavian Studies. He has published academically in various periodicals on
poetry, Kierkegaard and romantic literature. He has also contributed to the
Dictionary of Literary Biography.
He frequently writes for major Danish newspapers on
political and cultural topics and is a staff-writer for Graf. Blad om bøger, which is a magazine
dedicated to new literature. He was an editor of Det ny Reception (now published as Reception.
Tidskrift for nordisk litteratur) from 1992-1999.
He has taught a variety of topics at various levels for
the past six years. He was a lecturer at the University of Minnesota from 2000-2004.
While at the University of Minnesota, he received several teaching awards,
including the College of Liberal Arts' Student Choice Award, 2003-2004. In
addition to teaching, he has worked as a consultant and is currently an
external examiner at Yale University.
As a native Dane, Claus attended the University of
Copenhagen. He received his B.A. in 1995 and his cand.mag.in 1999, both in
Danish with minors in History and Film.
