Meditation, Fall 2006
wood

This wooden polyhedron is a reincarnation of a previous design assignment in which "meditation" was a theme. All aspects of this piece are a response to the notion of meditation. In the polyhedron, the squares symbolize balance and groundedness. The equilateral triangles represent divine inspiration. The notion of meditation is also invoked by the tradition of carving or whittling wood. Meditation and reflection as a means of process were present in every aspect of this piece's creation, from its brainstormed conception to its handmade construction.
