Material Experimentation and Application
This two-part project involved first exploring the possibilities and potential of a specified material (1/2-inch plywood with threaded-rod and nut connections) by questioning common assumptions about its inherent characteristics and then developing an applied use of the material based on one of the findings from the project’s first phase. These studies show investigations of plywood’s rigidity, opacity, and its tendency to be sawn. The table contrasts that tendency with the beauty found by disregarding it.
