Becoming-Tarp, 2005
performance involving tarp, fan, human
dimensions variable (lifespan of tarp)
Laying amongst the mounds of mass-produced industrial objects that fill our
visual landscape, the tarp is, in actuality, anarchic: the flux of its form
refutes attempts to enforce a particular use upon it; similarly, although
the Grid may seem to be a tool of the Law, it can allow for an endless flow
so long as its cubes can be recombined into new relationships. In becoming a
tarp I renounce myself to experience the full emptiness of tarpness and the
larger gridity.
