2005 Senior Design Exhibition
Work by Graduating Seniors in Design

May 7 through 29, 2005

2005 Senior Design Exhibition

Beginning Saturday, May 7, Creative Research Laboratory presents the work of graduating seniors from the Design Division of the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin : Ben Aqua, Sarah Chiu, Grant Davis, Veronica Giavedoni, Katie Hannibal, Carissa Leos, Matt Omohundro, Dylan Reece, Lydia Reynolds, Aisha Saati, Tony Simonetta, Joel Skotak, Mike Wachs, Blake Wright, Mark Yawn.

Design is a pervasive term enveloping almost every aspect of contemporary culture. It is a way of making sense of things. UT designers explore the fields commonly categorized as graphic design, product/industrial design, film/animation, and architecture, creating hybrid environments and artifacts. These are the thoughtful, ethical designers of the future, who will imbue our environments with depth, texture and meaning.

Edward Triggs: The Work and Process of a Graphic Designer, opening in conjunction with the Senior Design Exhibition, offers a glimpse into Triggs’ process, as well as a sampling from the range of work he produced. In the middle of the 20th century, this designer rode the edge of modernism into Texas. Instrumental in the development of the Design Division at The University of Texas, Ed Triggs also maintained a graphic design practice to address the communication needs of a growing city.

Creative Research Laboratory presents a year-round schedule of exhibitions of work by students and faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, and also facilitates workshops, performances, demonstrations, seminars and collaborations. Creative Research Laboratory is located in East Austin at 2832 East Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, inside Flatbed World Headquarters. There is ample free parking and bus service available on Capitol Metro's route 18. The activities of the Department of Art and Art History and the Creative Research Laboratory are free and open to the public.
