I am interested in the combination of perception and invention, the hybrid created
by the collision of the external world of perception and the internal world of thought.
Observation provides paradoxical propositions of light, space and form. This is the study
at the core of my work as visual finding is often more fantastic than the purely fictional.
The drawings begin as a pursuit of still life objects, some already inherently tied to fiction,
and then reality gives way to a visionary space of invention. Discoveries are made, associations
and memories merge, a reality of eye and mind results. Through the drawing process there develops
the combination of observation, fabrication, antirational narrative, and pictoral distortion.
