Opening August 16, Creative Research Laboratory presents Superstring, featuring work by nine Master of Fine Arts candidates and curated by two graduate students from the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin. The reception will take place on August 23 from 7 to 9 pm at Creative Research Laboratory, located at 2832 East Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Austin.

Superstring is the second of two summer exhibitions organized collaboratively by students in the Department of Art and Art History. The artists featured in Superstring are Katherine Bash, Brian Bales, Jason Buchanan, Hana Hillerova, Young-Min Kang, Barna Kantor, Jennifer Little, Nina Rizzo, and Eric Tomberlin. Curators are Charlotte Cousins and Amanda Douberley.

The artists featured in Superstring create and question large systemic structures. Interested in issues of globalization, communication, industrialization and the environment, they juxtapose organic and synthetic forms. Theoretically and materially, the artists manipulate the threshold between order and chaos, between legibility and obscurity, between control and anarchy.

An Artists' Roundtable moderated by Regine Basha, Adjunct Curator at Arthouse and Associate of Fluent Collaborative, and Kelly Baum, Assistant Curator of American and Contemporary Art at the Jack S. Blanton Museum of Art, is scheduled for September 9, 6-8:30pm in the Gallery.

Creative Research Laboratory presents a year-round schedule of exhibitions of work by students and faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, and also facilitates workshops, performances, demonstrations, seminars and collaborations.

The Lab is located at 2832 East Martin Luther King Boulevard , located in East Austin at 2832 East Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, inside Flatbed World Headquarters. There is ample free parking and bus service available on Capitol Metro's route 18. The activities of the Department of Art and Art History and the Creative Research Laboratory are free and open to the public.
