Two MFA Exhibitions Present Exciting New Work by Emerging Artists and Designers in Texas

March 29 - April 12, and April 19 - May 3, 2003 at Creative Research Laboratory

Beginning March 29, Creative Research Laboratory presents a pair of back-to-back exhibitions showcasing the work of artists and designers completing their Master of Fine Arts degrees from the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin.

Each of the two-week exhibitions promise stimulating and thought-provoking experiences of contemporary art and design, with new work in digital and print media, sound and sculptural installation, painting, photography, video and lighting design.

Opening March 29 and extending to April 12, MFA 1 features the work of Aimée Rhodes Cook, Jonathan Faber, Eric Harvey, Suzy Mitchell, Ryan Molloy and Kate Thomason. An opening reception will take place Saturday, March 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Starting April 19, MFA 2 presents the work of Benjamin Appl, Bridget M. Bird, Bryan Howell, Owen McAuley, Margaret McNiel, and Robert Pruitt. An opening reception will take place Saturday, April 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. The exhibition closes on May 3.

Located at 2832 East Martin Luther King, Jr. in Austin, Texas, Creative Research Laboratory offers a full schedule of exhibitions and programs in contemporary art and design, providing a year-round forum for interaction between the larger community and artists, designers, and educators at the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin.

The Department of Art and Art History is one of the largest and most diverse art departments in the country; it currently boasts 71 faculty members, 743 undergraduates and 147 graduate students. U.S. News and World Report ranks the graduate studio art program at the University of Texas at Austin among the top ten in the United States.
