Hatbox: The Ball Chair Re-designed
Hatbox is a re-design of the ergonomic ball chair and its position in the market. Without a user, the chair stands alone. Its smooth formic casing gives it a domestic appearance and enables it to be seen as more than a toy or exercise tool. When pressure is applied to the seat, the bottom portion of the casing rises and reveals a rounded base. At this point, just as with the ball chair, the user must apply a constant but low level of activity in the torso and leg muscles to keep the chair upright. It remains a healthy aid for autonomous sitting, but does not position itself within the stylistic limitations of the ball chair.
