  • The International Sustainable World (Engineering, Energy & Environment) Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP)
  • May 1 - 5, 2008 - George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston

    I-SWEEEP aims to stimulate interest in our planet’s problems, to find practical solutions to these challenges, and to accelerate the progress towards a sustainable world by engaging young minds early on.

    I-SWEEEP brought together over 800 young scientists in grades 6-12 from 57 different countries and 38 different states within the United States to compete in an international science fair centered on preserving and recycling Earth’s resources. This year, over 400 research projects were presented.


  • Austin Energy City of Austin Science Festival
  • February 20 - 23, 2008 — Palmer Events Center

    The Austin Energy Regional Science Festival serves students in the Central Texas Area from Bastrop, Lee, Fayette, Travis, and Williamson counties; plus charter schools and private schools in the Austin Energy service area. To participate, student projects must have won at their school's science fair.

    Winning Junior and Senior Division projects in the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival advance to the ExxonMobil State Science Fair, held in San Antonio, Texas in April, 2008. Best of Fair Senior Division students advance directly to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico in May, 2008 .


  • EXXONMOBIL Texas Science and Engineering Fair

    April - 2008 — Henry Gonzales Convention Center, San Antonio

    The ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair is the State science fair offering two levels of competition: Juniors for students in grades 6 through 8, and seniors for students in 9th through 12th grades. Students enrolled in accredited home-school programs are also eligible.

    To qualify for state competition, students must win first, second, or third place in their category at an ISEF-sanctioned regional science fair. There is no other mechanism through which students can advance to the state fair, and no exceptions can be made regarding grade level requirements.
