We flew into Seattle and ended up at Bumbershoot- an immense music festival near the space needle in downtown Seattle. We weren't planning to meet anyone we knew in a crowd of over 20,000 people, so we were surprised when we were walking in the crowd and this woman turns to throttle Paul by the neck. George and Paul were at a loss for words until a cheery smile broke out over Annette's face. She had heard Paul's voice amidst all the clamor at the festival. So, hey, now we even had friends to hang out with besides each other... a welcome relief for two scrubby dudes on the road.

Paul headed over to Phil and Carrie's the next day for a fabulous breakfast prepared by the matron of the house, none other than Carrie herself. The following photos show some of the clan in all their splendor.

Of course there's the man of the house perched in his throne.....

Mr. Phil Beilin.

After a day visiting Snoqualamie Falls and Twin Falls at Olallie State Park on the Snoqualamie river east of Seattle, George and Paul drove their rental car to Anacortes where they took the ferry to Lopez Island. They spent their first night at the local State Park and left the next morning for their three day kayaking adventure.

The weather was all too accommodating as the following photos reveal....

Hey, keep that dungeness crab to yourself!

Gettin' ready for a swim.

After we finished our fabulous kayaking adventure we still had a lil' time to ride the ferry to San Juan Island and Orcas Island. At San Juan Island we went to the whale museum and learned neat things about Orcas. After taking some much needed showers at the sailing harbor (whew!, three days and somebody was startin' to shtink!) we headed for the local state park situated on the west coast of San Juan Island adjacent to Horo Strait, where the local Orca pods are most often seen. Alas, we saw no Orcas there but we did see an awesome sunset with a new moon sliver in the west. We could see right through it all to Canada and Vancouver Island! The next day we went to Orcas Island where all the hippie artists live. Check out the local roadside art:

All in all, George and Paul had a great time in the beautiful Northwest. That's all of the cyberslide show for now. Coco and Paul are in the midst of their busy work-a-day lives in Austin, TX. We are happy in our lil' world in our home amidst the cedar elms... cheers. Y'all take care.
