MNEMONICS:
Mnemonics are artificial
aids for memory for ill-structured
material which is largely disconnected.
Mnemonics are often used to memorize
information.
Types of Mnemonics:
- Key Word: Technique for
remembering word pairs
- Verbal: Words are used as
connectives of word pairs
- Imaginal: Connections lend
themselves to imagery. Used for the
description of scenes, parts, or
maps
- Chain: Technique for
remembering strings or chains of items
in order
- Link: Imagery connects the first
two items, another imagery connects
items two and three...
- Story: Rhyme or story is ued as
an aid
- Peg-Word: Use sequence, such as
"One is a bun" to connect words
- Method of Loci: Items to be
recalled are imaginably placed in a
larger image, such as a room
- Single-Use Coding: First
letters of each owrd are remembered
through another word or sentence. Ex.
