Big Daddy

Big Daddy
I really like this stubby little rocket. I am especially proud of how the finish turned out. This is one of the first rockets that I built after discovering Elmer's Finishing Wood Filler. All the seams and fins are filled and the finish paint laid on smooth as silk. It really turns in some beautiful flights on a D12 too. Maybe someday we'll see what happens when you stick an "E" in it.

Big Daddy Flights (10)
Date Flight #Motors Motor ISP Description
4/9/2000131D12-5 20Impressive flight! Landed in pasture.
4/22/2000201D12-5 20Nice high shot. Came down inside the park.
4/29/2000251D12-5 20Cool!
4/29/2000291D12-5 20Great shot. Landed just inside the park.
5/20/2000311D12-5 20Drag race with Sean's Big Daddy. They diverged and it was hard to tell who had the highest altitude. Looked good coming down on new nylon chute.
7/2/2000461D12-5 20Did a loopy loop off the rod then headed upwind like a cruise missle. Chute deplyment just before impact. No damage. Not to self: This is not a rocket for windy conditions.
7/8/2000541D12-5 20Large tipoff resulting in cruise missle flight. Ejection broke the shock cord and fin can tumble into the trees. Luckily it fell through to the ground. Nose cone landed fine. Will have to repair with new SC. If problems with tip-off persist will have to reduce some of the hardware affecting the CG.
7/5/2003641D12-5 20Cocked over into the wind. Chute depoyed but did not unfurl. Landed in the corn field. Looked for it for about thirty minutes but did not find. MIA.
8/9/2003681D12-5 20I guess this one could use a bigger chute. Sure comes down fast.
1/3/2004811D12-5 20Launched in a 20 mph wind. Weather cocked a bit but overall put on a good show. Drifted just off the field despite severly reefing the shrouds. Brittain picked it up for me on his way in from the outfield.
