- Lawrence Glenn Hardin reports the name was George Washington Stovall Sr. However, since the mother's maiden surname was "Whitehead" it is more likely the middle given name was indeed Whitehead. - Cited on marriage license as "George W. Stovall". - may have been commonly known as "G.W. Sr." - One source reports this person was from Franklin County, Georgia, and deceased ca.1842
