Notes

- Family history reports that Sam was born in northern Kentucky but the 1880 US census lists him as "Alex Brand" and born in Georgia; the census also lists wife, Mary and daugther, Gladys as being born in GA. The 1900 US census also reports Sam was born in GA. The 1900 census further reports that Sam's parents were both born in GA. - The 1880 US census entry is reported by both Marjorie Southard and Edie Ann Brand. The 1900 US census entry is reported by Edie Ann Brand.
