- While some sources report Robert P. as being born in 1811 the 1880 US Census reports him as being born in 1803. - Robert P. 's father may have been Abner Banks of South Carolina. This would be consistent with the fact that Robert P.'s first son was also named "Abner". Also, Abner did have two otherwise unidentified sons listed in the 1820 census of Abbeville County, SC - The 1840 US Census reported Robert P. Banks as 30-40 years of age. - The 1850 US Census listed a "Robert B. Banks" with information that fit all the known information on "Robert P. Banks", thus the middle initial of "B" on the census entry form was probably an error that should have been "P". - Per 1850 census Robert P. was 39 years of age at he time which may have been an error since other Census records indicate the birth year as ca.1803-1805. - Per 1860 Census Robert P. was 57 years of age at the time. - Per 1870 Census Robert P. was 66 years of age at the time. - Per 1880 Census Robert P. was 77 years of age at the time. - Not all sources list the daughter, "Mary A.". - Brenda Willis reports Robert P. was married to Nancy Unknown, and that they were living in Georgia when their son, John was born 5-11-1842. She also reports her mother was descended from Robert P." son, John with her father being descended from Robert P.'s son, W.W.
