READING/ CULTURE/
SPOKEN PRESENTATION PROJECT
As mentioned earlier in the course, we'll
be combining this semester's readings, "rincón cultural," and spoken
presentations into one set of three assignments (one for each chapter of
Punto
y aparte that we cover this semester).
For each chapter you will:
-
Read carefully the entire "rincón cultural"
section of the chapter (including the exercises, which often contain more
information.)
-
Choose an item from that section that you
find interesting. (See list of related topics below.)
-
Go out and find at least three sources of
additional information about your item IN SPANISH, and read them carefully.
Possible sources include Web sites, books, magazines, video-taped documentaries,
or a native speaker who will give you an interview. At least two
of the three sources must be written sources, at least one full page of
text each. If you do an interview as one of your sources, and if
it follows the guidelines below, you'll receive a 50 % extra-credit bonus
in the presentation grade for that chapter.
-
Write an assignment based on the three sources
(This will count as both the "lecturas" and the "rincón cultural"
grade given in other sections of 312K.)
-
For chapters two and three, give a brief oral
presentation about your topic. The content of the presentation will
be similar but not identical to the written assignment. You will
present in front of a small group of classmates (5 to 8 group members),
and your presentation will be tape-recorded for a grade. For chapter
1, you'll give an informal presentation in English to your group.
