Due to inclement weather on the 2nd, the last showing was cancelled, and the
scheduled features were moved to this week.
A free showing of Japanese animation
The UT Austin Anime Club will be presenting its second screening for the spring
semester this Friday, February 16. The showing is free to all with an interest
in great animation and stories.
On the program are:
Text descriptions by Walker from the club mailing list. Those shows without summaries have links to relevant Web pages.
- ROSE OF VERSAILLES (subtitled in English)
(Note: This is the only page I've found, but it's pretty spoiler-laden, so just read the overview at the beginning if you like surprises.)
- GUNSMITH CATS (subtitled in English)
- SHURATO #2 (subtitled in English)
Shurato and Guy are two friends who compete in martial arts. One day,
during a competition, they get teleported to an alternate world. The next
thing Shurato knows, he and Guy are on opposite sides in a war between the
gods.
- POM POKO (subtitled in English)
- DNA^2 #4 (subtitled in English)
In episode #1, a time traveller came to our time in order to alter the DNA
of a boy, who would later become a "mega playboy" (having 100 children, of
whom each of the sons would also have 100 children and so on). By
changing his DNA, she hoped to prevent the damage that the mega playboy's
decendents would bring to an overpopulated world. Instead, she used the
wrong formula and CAUSED the boy to become a mega playboy. Now she gets
to clean up the mess she made.
So if you're interested in seeing some great animation with some truly
diverse stories, check out the Anime Club free showing, open to all Friday
February 16th, from 7pm to midnight, in Engineering Teaching Center room 2.108.
For those not familiar with UT, the ETC building is located near 26th and
Speedway; the main entrance is right on the north side of the 26th street bridge.
