A free showing of Japanese animation

On the program are:

• MACROSS PLUS, OVA #1 (subtitled in English)
  this is the latest follow-up to the all-time classic Macross series which has been well received. It has excellent animation, including a some computer-generated sequences, but its animation style and story are much more intense and sharply contrasted than the original. (30 min) --WHY

• RAI, episode #2 (in Japanese)
  the next installment of this recent animated series based on the manga by Johji Manabe (of Outlanders). Sort of a cross between the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa and Space Cruiser Yamato, this series centers on the adventures of young warlord Ryuga Rai, a samurai in the service of the Hikidan clan, now engaged in a huge battle with other noble clans of the old galactic empire for supremacy. Having taken the princess Shimon, last descendant of the old Galactic Emperor, prisoner in a battle last episode, the position of the Hikidan seem secure. But not for long, when they are attacked by the most powerful rival warlord clan around led by the formidable female general Dokuganryu Masamune. (30 min) --WMA

• PLEASE SAVE MY EARTH, OVA #3 (subtitled in English)
  the story of seven people who came to reaize their previous lives... on the moon! Years ago, there was an interplanetary war, which completely destroyed both sides. Seven people of this alien race lived in a space station on the moon, admiring the newly-formed Earth. In present day Japan, the seven strangers (of which a few are friends in THIS life) come to realize the fate of their race in their new lives, and what they did wrong. The leader of them wants to make amends, and protect the Earth. VERY little action, and not a lot of bodacious babes in this. However, if you like a good Sci-Fi drama story, this is for you. • THE IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN TYLER, OVA #5-6 (subtitled in English)
  it's the new misadventures of that swashbuckling space-ace, Justy Tyler, and he's about to get a dose of disaster on his small ship... from his own superiors! As a "reward" for defeating a Ralgon fleet in the last episode, his small ship (the Soyukaze) finally gets a nurse. But it's not long before discord divides his crew as every marine, sailor, and pilot is gold-bricking and vying for her attention. A hilarious must-see. (2 x 30 min) --WHY

For those not familiar with UT, the ETC building is located on the northeast corner of Speedway and 26th streets. The main entrance is by the north end of the bridge across 26th street.
