About AHPO

Asian Health Professions Organization (AHPO, established 1989) was founded with the intent to provide students with social camaraderie and an opportunity to become more familiar with the medical field. Through time, AHPO has developed into an organization that provides students with peer support and advice as well as a means for students to prepare for their medical careers. AHPO provides academic assistance and opportunities to develop character and leadership skills through organizational and community projects and activities. With these goals in mind, AHPO understands and emphasizes that awareness and preparedness are the keys to future success.

Although founded with the concerns of Asian students in mind, AHPO welcomes students of any nationality and seeks to fulfill the needs of all members.

Currently, AHPO offers assistance with issues important to students interested in the Health Professions. Whether it be help with preparation for the MCAT/DAT/OAT, the application process for entering a professional school, or the pathway to an MD/PhD, AHPO will assist students as much as possible.

The purpose of this site is to provide communication for members as well as other visitors. AHPO provides helpful insight and information for a wide range of students—from those mildly curious about being pre-med to those certain about medicine as a future career. While the focus is on pre-medical issues, the application process for dentistry, optometry, osteopathic medicine and podiatry is essentially the same. If you are interested in a career in medicine, join AHPO and establish a rapport with others having the same interest. At the same time, you'll learn issues surrounding pre-health students, as well as develop a well-rounded character that professional schools look for. If you have any questions, email any officer listed on the "Officers" page.
