VAV brought in speakers and musicians from the community
to support the anti-domestic violence movement. Speakers included members
of Saheli, a community resource for Middle Eastern women in violent relationships;
Safe Place, the Austin-area battered women’s shelter; various survivors
of domestic violence; and Voices Against Violence members.
Interspersed on different chairs for the event were signs explaining the life and death of victims of domestic violence. A handful of booths lined the Main Mall from various support organization around The University, including The Counseling and Mental Health Center and the Women’s Resource Center. |
