Chapter Overview

The UT ASEE student chapter focuses on activities which serve to mentor and prepare students for careers in academia. We sponsor a series of speakers, panel discussions and workshops on topics of interest to future faculty, including academic resume preparation, proposal writing, interviewing for faculty positions, and future directions in engineering education.  We also arrange informal brown-bag luncheons with the renowned faculty at the UT College of Engineering.

Our programs also seek to provide a forum for mentoring of undergraduate engineers by UT graduate students. Undergraduate students who are interested in graduate school may eventually become engineering professors, and are definitely welcome to attend. One of our most popular programs has been the "grad-student panel discussion", where undergraduate students ask candid questions and get candid answers from graduate students on what grad school is really like.

The UT student chapter of ASEE was one of the first student chapters of ASEE, founded in 1997. The chapter membership has increased dramatically over the years, with over 100 in attendance at some of the most popular activities.
